Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in 03 Hot Pepper

The moment I first tried these, I instantly regretted waiting so long to purchase one. I am a sucker for matte finishes; and these claimed to do that and more!

Bourjois have kindly given us 6 different shades made up of bold reds, pinks and nudes. The high pigmentation lipsticks set to a velvety matte finish, and believe me they do not budge once applied! It feels like you aren't wearing any product as they are so lightweight.

Matte lipsticks often tend to be on the dry side, but that is not the case here. However, if you have extremely dry lips, I'd suggest exfoliating before application as they sometimes can cling to dry patches. Many people have described the smell as "industrial", whereas I haven't particularly took notice of it so it mustn't be that bad!

I apply one coat with the foam applicator first to fill in the shape of my lips. I then touch up and make sure everything is looking neat. To avoid smudging and staining anywhere other than my lips, I allow it to dry for a few minutes. If you just want to achieve a sheer stain of colour, you can apply with your fingers and blend out.

I found it didn't quite last 24 hours as claimed (who needs a lipstick to last a whole day anyway?!), but more around the 4 hours mark before I needed to re-apply.

I am so impressed by this launch from Bourjois. The Rouge Edition Velvets are everything you could want in a matte liquid lipstick. I can't wait to try more shades!

The Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Liquid Lipstick retails for £8.99.
Buy it at Boots, Superdrug, Amazon and Bourjois.

What are your thoughts on the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets?

*Bourjois products are 2 for £14 in Boots at the moment. If that doesn't make you give in to temptation then I don't know what will!*
