Superdrug Mini-Haul

Last week I was in the holiday spirit and ordered a few items from Superdrug
for my holiday to Florida, which is 5 weeks away but still, I couldn't resist. For those of you who aren't familiar with Superdrug, it's basically a drugstore in the UK, which sells all sorts of beauty products and more. The flight will be over 10 hours and I hate the feeling of my skin being dry and dehydrated on the plane, so I am prepared this time!

Ok so the first products I got were by Simple. I love this brand, most of the products are affordable for everyday use and they really work! I chose the Simple Kind To Eyes Make-Up Remover, Simple Kind To Skin Soothing Facial Toner, and the Simple Kind To Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser. They are all 50ml travel-sized bottles which are great for hand luggage because of the restrictions, and they can be thrown away before I come home so hopefully I'll be able to buy more things out there without going over the weight limit, fingers crossed!
Then I got a travel-sized Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula which I have actually never tried before (I know, disgraceful!). But I can safely say I am loving this already after trying it out, oops. Another travel-sized product is the Nivea Invisible for Black & White Anti-Perspirant which I'll take in my hand luggage as it's always handy with going to a hot country and while in a rush at the airport, as always!
I paint my nails every few days and I don't want to put a big nail varnish remover bottle in my suitcase so I bought the Quickies 20 Nail Varnish Remover Pads which will be perfect for when I'm over there.
Next I bought the Collection Pump Up The Volume Loud Lash Mascara in 17 Ultra Black, and the Collection Pump Up The Volume Waterproof Mascara in 1 Black. I have been using these mascaras for over a year and never bought anything better, I use them every day and I love them! They last me for ages too as when they start going dry, I put a few drops of water in and even though it goes slightly thinner and watery, it's still easy to apply. More from Collection, I got the Illuminating Touch Brightening Concealer in 1 Naked. This is one of the best concealers I have used. It matches my skin tone perfectly and covers my dark circles well (I suffer from quite bad dark circles and have tried everything to get rid of them!). Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner in 1 Black was another product I purchased from Collection, and I love this liquid eyeliner, it lasts me for ages, it's fast drying and stays on for hours.
I purchased the B. Groomed Eyebrow Kit in Blonde, which I have never tried before but it seems good value for money as it has the eyebrow pencil one end and a wax pencil on the other, with a brush on the lid for softening your eyebrows once the pencil has been applied.
The last two products I got were the ones I was most excited about using now never mind on holiday! They were the 2true Cheek 'n' Lip Tint in Rose and the Sleek Pout Paint in 157 Pin Up. The Lip Tint is similar to Benefit's Benetint but for a fraction of the price, and I think works as good, as well as giving your lips a lovely bright rose colour which lasts for ages. I attempted to put this on my cheeks but it didn't blend very well, although that was probably my fault. The Pout Paint is an amazing colour, a really rich red, but can be blended to make a hot pink colour. You only need the tiniest bit of this product on a lip brush and you have complete coverage on your lips! Another bonus is that you can use this alone or mix with other shades in the range, meaning you'll be able to get your perfect colour.

So that's all I got in my Superdrug delivery! I hope you liked reading this and please comment with products you'd like me to try! Are you going to try any of the products mentioned? What products do you buy from Superdrug?

25 Questions Tag!

I thought I'd answer these 25 questions for you to get to know me better!

Do you have any pets? Yes I do, two dogs (a Long-Haired Weimaraner called Toby and a German Short-Haired Pointer called Charlie) and a pond full of all sorts of fish!
Name three things that are physically close to you: There's my iPhone, some Company Magazines and a lamp.
What's the weather like right now? Surprisingly the weather is good, quite sunny and warm, much better than it has been!
Do you drive? If so, have you crashed? No unfortunately I don't drive but I can start driving lessons very soon!
What time did you wake up this morning? I woke up around 11am, but didn't get up till 11.50am. I love lie-ins!
When was the last time you showered? About 2 weeks ago. Don't panic, I have baths instead, they're much more relaxing!
What was the last movie you saw? The last movie I saw on TV was Here Comes The Boom, I've seen it so many times!
What does your last text message say? It says 'aw man, me neither'. Nothing interesting there.
What is your ringtone? My ringtone for my iPhone is Marimba.
Have you ever been to a different country? Yes but the countries I'd absolutely love to visit are Australia and New Zealand!
Do you like sushi? No I don't eat fish.
Where do you buy your groceries? We usually buy them from Asda.
Have you taken any medication to help you fall asleep faster? No but I have got a spray which supposedly helps you fall asleep quicker.
How many siblings do you have? I have a younger brother called Kyle.
Do you have a desktop computer or a laptop? I just have a laptop!
How old will you be turning on your next birthday? I'll be 16!
Do you wear contact lenses or glasses? Nope neither.
Do you colour your hair? No it sounds too much hassle!
Tell me something you're planning to do today: Well it's late now so just watching TV before I go to sleep. But I haven't done much at all today.
When was the last time you cried? I can't remember why I cried but it was recently. Although if crying with laughter counts, then today!
What is your favourite pizza topping? I'm quite plain when it comes to pizza toppings, just lots and lots of ham and I'm happy!
Which do you prefer, hamburger or cheeseburger? Well this is disappointing because I don't like burgers!
Have you ever had an all-nighter? Yes regularly in the school holidays, but then it's difficult getting back into a sleeping pattern ready for school.
What is your eye colour? My eyes are a blue-grey colour.
Can you taste the difference between Pepsi and Coke? I probably would be able to but I don't really take much notice.

So there's some random questions I've answered. Hope you enjoyed reading this post and feel free to comment with other things you'd like me to do!

How to make a Peppermint Lip Scrub

I love the Lush Lip Scrub in Bubblegum, and when I used it all up I thought I'd look around and see if I could make my own, as I have seen loads of people selling ones they've made. This is only the second time I have made this lip scrub using these instructions so they may be slightly off at the moment while I get used to how much you need to use. I also annoyingly didn't have any honey or food colouring at home so couldn't use any!:( anyway let's get started!

You will need:
Empty pot with lid
Sugar
Olive oil
Honey
Food colouring (red, optional)
Peppermint extract
Vanilla essence

The first thing you need to do is make sure the pot is clean, dry and doesn't have any of the previous content left in! Then scoop a few spoonful's of sugar into a bowl, how many depends on how big the tub is / how much you want, and put just less than a teaspoon of olive oil, and mix together. The mixture should look similar to this!

Next add a few drops of the vanilla and peppermint, to give the lip scrub a nice flavour. You could choose different flavours, like almond, bubblegum or coconut if you had the flavourings! Then you would add a few drops of food colouring, and mix. It's best to use either a pink or red food colouring rather than blue or green as it may stain your lips that colour! Then you'd add some honey which would stick the mixture together and make it easier to apply, but I stupidly forgot to buy it today! Finally, scoop the lip scrub from the bowl and drop it into the pot, squashing it down compact to get more into the pot. This lib scrub will last for ages, taste amazing and because of the oil, will leave your lips smooth and moisturised!

Please comment below any of your How To's! Which lip scrubs do you like? Have you tried this? What are your first impressions? I'd love to know!

How to make a Make Up Setting Spray / Refreshing Face Spray

If like me, you're not willing to pay over the odds for a setting spray for your make up which is about as effective as this one at half the price, then this is for you. As I'm attempting to save money for my holiday next month, I didn't want to spend loads on products to take with me, so I've been searching on the internet for things like this which are easy to make at home with items you'd have in your house normally (hopefully!). This setting spray can be also used just as a refreshing face spray, which is great to take on holiday in the hot weather! And it is so easy to make!

You will need:
Corn flour
Water (preferably filtered)
Empty spray bottle
Eye drops (optional)

Firstly, make sure the spray bottle is clean and the previous content is completely gone to avoid spraying that onto your face.
Then you'll need to tip the corn flour into the bottle, filling it up about a fifth of the way.

Next pour the water in, filling up the remaining space in the bottle.
At this point, you may want to add a few drops of eye drops. Depending on your skin type, the eye drops will prevent redness and make your skin look more even.
Secure the lid tightly and shake to mix up the contents. Make sure you shake the bottle before use each time and there you have it!

I'd love to know if anyone tries this so please let me know how you got on, thank you!

Glossybox 'High-Flyers' August 2013

'High-Flyers'- The Glossybox from around the world. I wasn't that pleased overall with this box compared to last months, as I found the products were quite average and nothing special which I would get a lot of use out of. However, the products in this box are all under 100ml to ensure you can take these abroad on travels and they won't take up too much space in your case, which is great as I'm going on holiday next month!
So, the first product I received in my box was some Emite Make Up Eyelash Curlers from Sweden, which price at approximately £20 (expensive I know!). It's like Glossybox read my mind this month, as a few weeks ago I lost my old eyelash curlers somewhere and was in need of some new ones as soon as possible! It was a great surprise to receive these ones! They have a special curved design to suit all eye shapes and come with 3 extra refill pads, so they will last a very long time. I've used these every day since getting them last week and they feel very sturdy to use, but I wouldn't have purchased these out shopping anytime as I think they are so expensive, you can get some for much cheaper online and I bet they'd work as well.

Next was the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Concentrated Treatment Shot, from the USA. This can be bought for £1.49 from Superdrug, Boots, Tesco and Waitrose. From other people's reviews on this, it seems like a good product and I'm yet to try this because once it's opened you have to use all of it, so I'm going to take it on holiday with me to hopefully control frizzy hair. I will use this after returning from a waterpark to get the chlorine out of my hair and leave it smooth. I think this is good value for money and if it works well then I'll definitely be buying more to take on holidays with me!

Then I received the Oceane Makeup Remover Pen, from Brazil, which is not yet available in the UK so I'm not sure what price this would be retailed at. I have seen many people say that they have never seen anything like this before and are quite excited to use it, however I purchased something similar to this a few months ago by Simple, which I wasn't really impressed with neither. The tips of the pen get dirty very easily and if you use them more than once, it marks your skin so you ruin your make up anyway! I think this product is quite average and doesn't do anything different to what a folded-up make up wipe would do!

The next product I received in my Glossybox was a Jelly Pong Pong 2-in-1 Shadow/Liner in Black, from of course, the UK. I never usually use pencil to line my eyes (it's difficult enough with liquid!), but I gave it a go and failed miserably. Plus, I don't wear dark eye shadows either so I don't really see how I'll use this product so I will probably give this to a friend which will be better than it cluttering up my make up drawer. With this product priced at £10.50, it definitely needs to be used!

Right, the final product I got this month was my absolute favourite. It's a Urban Veda Turmeric & Botanic Daily Radiance Facial Wash, which is great value for money at around £7.99. It does exactly what it says on the bottle; naturally brightens and balances skin tone, as well as leaving skin super smooth, even after just one use! It also has an amazing fruity scent which you don't usually expect for a face wash, but it's not over-powering or irritating. I think it was a sample size as it was only about 20ml, but it will last me a while because you only need to use a tiny bit to cover your face and neck. When this runs out I will definitely be purchasing the full size product- this is my new daily facial wash!

These are the products I received in this months Glossybox. I hope you enjoyed reading this post and feel free to comment with products you'd want me to try out, or what you've liked in your Glossybox, as I'd love to know what you think!

July Favourites 2013

These are my favourite beauty products of July 2013, I hope you enjoy reading this and feel free to comment with other products I should try!

The first product is Caudalie Divine Oil, which smells amazing! It's basically an oil which can be used for anything; body, face, hair, nails, pour into a hot bath or even use as massage oil. Because it is a dry oil, it easily absorbs into your skin, leaving a non-greasy, but smooth, finish. Plus, you only need to use a tiny bit and it covers a wide area, meaning the £4.05 you pay for a full size of 15ml is great and definitely worth buying!
The second product is My Trusty Little Sunflower Cream, which is a daily moisturiser in Lavender or Unscented. I have the Lavender one and even though I'm not keen on the Lavender scent in general, it smells so good, but it's quite over-powering, so I'd probably get the Unscented one next time. It leaves your skin smooth, soft and the product is travel-sized, and still lasts for ages. I'd definitely recommend trying it for £6.99 for 100ml.

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant is the next product. It is a rice-based enzyme powder, which turns into a creamy paste when water is added. Even after only trying this product once, I could feel my skin was smoother and brighter. I definitely recommend this moisturiser. However, for 75ml it's £40.30, which is quite expensive but worth it if you're willing to pay that much for a good moisturiser.
The next products are two Collection Concealers; Illuminating Touch and Lasting Perfection. I suffer from dark circles under my eyes and I have tried literally everything to make them disappear or cover them up, and I find these two concealers work quite well as they have good coverage and it matches my pale skin tone. I love these and wear either one every day! You can buy Illuminating Touch for £4.99 and Lasting Perfection for £4.19. (Please recommend any other liquid concealers you find work well for you as I'd love to try them!)

The next product is another by Collection, the Pump Up The Volume Mascara. I have used this mascara every day for over a year now and I love it so much. I recommend it to everyone! I wear quite a lot of mascara on my eyelashes so the big applicator makes it easier to apply and there is lots of mascara on the brush. You can get this for £4.99 from Boots. To stop any mascara from drying out, stand the bottle in warm water for 2 minutes or put a few drops of eye drops in and shake. This will make your mascara last loads longer!

The final product I have been loving this month is Simple Kind to Lips Essential Lip Balm SPF15. I actually didn't buy this product, I got this as a reward from Simple as I am a member, or Simple VIP as they call it. I didn't think much of this lip balm as I already have so many but I have been using this so much lately! It is clear, doesn't have a scent, lasts for ages and leaves your lips feeling soft and hydrated. I am definitely taking this on holiday with me as it will protect my lips from the sun too. This is around £4.00.
